Six Ways to Promote Growth of Philanthropy in China

    On July 13, China Minister of Civil Affairs Li Liguo stated at the Ministry's Annual Interim Briefing, that beginning from the second-half of 2012 and in the near future, the ministry will promote legislation concerning philanthropy business and the development of charity industry in China. Firstly, any positive results and effects brought on by charity work must be publicized; secondly, develop and put into effect tax benefits earmarked for community charity organizations; thirdly, coordinate government procurement of charity services from charity organizations; fourthly, set up a proper structure for disaster relief efforts; fifthly, conduct trials for volunteer service record-keeping; sixthly, promote the establishment and operation of charity marketplace.
