From March 26-28, Spring Sprout Project delivered training in Chongqing Municipality. More than 60 persons, including staff members from 19 project provinces, volunteer supervisors from Chongqing, staff of ACF and Supervising officials from CNCCC’s Spring Sprout Project Office received training. The training was delivered through classroom instruction, drills and on-site study. It covered such fields as project management, project communication, donor services, best local practices, and volunteer supervisor rehearsals. It was the largest of its kind since the launch of the Spring Sprout Project in 2011.
During the training, instructors from ACF briefed trainees on the project’s progress and introduced donor services and project communication in details. ACF also invited instructors from professional consulting agencies to explain the supervision mechanism and possible issues they might encounter and solutions.
The training also included exciting drills and experience exchanges. Local staff members of ACF from Chongqing, Hubei and Guangxi shared their management experiences.
After classroom instruction, all trainees, accompanied by ACF staff and volunteer supervisors, went to Qijiang District in Chongqing Municipality conduct on-site evaluation in a project school. They visited the kitchen and the school, carefully carried out ACF’s assignments, and talked fact to face with the headmaster, kitchen administrators, teachers and students. Trainees gained a deeper understanding of the supervision work through the field visit.
Volunteer supervision is unique to the Spring Sprout Project. After the training, project provinces will soon recruit and train volunteer supervisors. Trainers from professional consulting agencies hired by ACF will provide on-site training to volunteer supervisors in the newly chosen project provinces. After May, ACF is going to conduct supervision on Spring Sprout Kitchens across the country.
