On April 20, 2013, an earthquake of 7.0-magnitude has struck Ya'an, Sichuan Province, China.
Our thoughts are with people affected by this disaster. On the day the quake occurred, Amway China has made a donation of RMB 5 million through the Amway Charity Foundation (ACF) to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, which will be used for the disaster relief and reconstruction efforts in the afflicted area and providing psychological therapy for children after the quake. Meantime, local ACF volunteers have been active in raising funds and collecting donations of materials. As of now, eight carts of materials have been gathered and are being transported to the stricken area by volunteers, who had also participated in the disaster relief work for the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008.
ACF has also opened an account to receive donations from Amway distributors and employees. In addition, donation stations have been set up in all Amway Shops in Sichuan. Up to this point, ACF has received a total of RMB 56,908 from Amway distributors, employees and other caring parties.
